Boxer operators plan to form a user club for the armored vehicles, said Lt. Col. Karlheinz Bönke, a representative for multipurpose armored vehicles (MRAV) at the German Army’s Concept and Capability Development Center, on the first day of the SAE Media Group conference on future armored vehicle survivability. The 2022 conference was held in London from 16 to 17 November. Lt. Col. Bönke expressed hope that an agreement to establish a user club could be agreed by the end of 2022, so that the group could begin work in 2023.
The original Boxer users are Germany and the Netherlands, while Australia, Lithuania and Great Britain are purchasing the vehicle (Slovenia announced its intention to withdraw from the program on September 15).
Answering a question from Janes during the second day of the conference, Lt. Col. Bönke said that the Boxer User Club will collaborate in areas such as capacity development and logistics.
