Air Canada is launching live TV on select domestic flights

Air Canada has launched Live TV on select aircraft and domestic routes, becoming the only Canadian carrier to offer customers the option of watching real-time global sporting events or live national news on board a flight.

Live TV on Air Canada flights currently features six Canadian English and French channels, which are available as part of the airline’s free-to-air and extensive entertainment programs.

“As we continue to improve the user experience, we look forward to expanding Live TV to more flights and offering even more leading content and features in 2023,” he said. John Moodysenior director of product design at Air Canada.

Live TV is currently available on coast-to-coast domestic routes operated by Live TV-enabled aircraft. Currently, 40 Boeing 777, Boeing 787, Airbus A330 and Airbus A220 aircraft support Live TV, and Air Canada expects 50% of domestic flights operated by mainline aircraft to offer Air Live TV by the second quarter of 2023. Canada Live TV is provided through a satellite entertainment solution.

Live TV programming on Air Canada flights consists of:

  • TSN, TSN 2 and RDS providing comprehensive live sports coverage for major sporting events including football, hockey, basketball, soccer, baseball, golf, professional auto racing and more
  • CTV News Channel delivers the latest news from various communities Canada and worldwide as the nation’s 24-hour news network
  • LCN, Quebec a news station that delivers news and rich programming from morning to night
  • BNN Bloomberg as Canada the ultimate business news source providing the latest financial news and live market coverage
