US B-1B bomber redeployed for joint exercises: South Korean armed forces
A US B-1B strategic bomber was redeployed to the Korean Peninsula on Saturday for joint exercises with South Korea, Seoul’s military said, a day after Pyongyang launched an intercontinental ballistic missile.
“South Korea and the United States conducted a joint exercise today with a US Air Force B-1B strategic bomber deployed to the Korean Peninsula,” South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement.
Some of the most advanced jet aircraft in the US Air Force and South Korea include F-35 stealth fighteralso joined the exercises, according to the report.
North Korea is particularly sensitive Joint American-South Korean exercisesexperts say because its air force is one of the weakest links in the military, it lacks high-tech jets and properly trained pilots.
Although the B-1B no longer carries nuclear weapons, the US Air Force describes it as the “mainstay of America’s long-range bombers” that can strike anywhere in the world.
