The number of mentions of Covid-19 in the aerospace and defense industry decreased in the third quarter of 2022

In the global aerospace and defense industry, the number of mentions of Covid-19 in company filings fell by 27% in Q3 2022 compared to the previous quarter, with Larsen & Toubro the highest share with a 59% decline compared to the same period last year. GlobalData analysis of more than 166 documents from aerospace and defense companies.

Notably, Covid-19 was one of the most mentioned topics in the third quarter of 2022, taking the highest number of mentions, ahead of the space economy and digitization, according to GlobalData.

 

Of the top 50 aerospace and defense companies in the third quarter of 2022, Larsen & Toubro increased the number of references to Covid-19 the most compared to the previous quarter. GlobalData found 81 sentences related to Covid-19 in company filings – 49% of all sentences – and a 100% increase in Q3 2022 compared to Q2 2022. General Electric mentions Covid-19 by 100% to 66, and Lockheed Martin up 128% to 32.

GlobalData Filings Analytics also applies a weight to referral offers based on whether they are positive, negative, or neutral. Starting at 100 in 2020, an index above 100 is more positive. The overall Covid-19 index for the third quarter of 2022 was 93.
