Raf Simmons is closing his label

Designer Raf Simons is set to close his eponymous brand. The brand’s spring-summer 2023 collection, shown in London in October, will be its last, Simons said in a statement posted on Instagram on Monday.

“I’m at a loss for words to share how proud I am,” Simons said. “Thank you all for believing in our vision and for believing in me.”

Founded in Belgium in 1995, Raf Simons was a pioneering menswear brand known for its lean silhouettes and focus on youth culture. The brand propelled Simmons to prominence in the fashion industry, helping the designer land top positions at Jil Sander, Dior and Calvin Klein before Prada, where he currently serves as creative director alongside the company’s controlling shareholder Miuccio Prado.

While the Raf Simons line remained a small business compared to the designers’ mega-brand employers, it was one of the hottest tickets at Fashion Week thanks to its rebellious spirit and play with color and materials that defined fashion.
