Event at Luton Airport highlights opportunities for local businesses

A networking event organized by London Luton Airport (LLA) was a resounding success, attracting over 60 local businesses keen to bid for airport contracts.

The event gave local suppliers the opportunity to meet procurement teams from LLA, Luton Council and Bedfordshire Central Council and raised over £6,000 for the airport’s charity partners, Luton Foodbank and East Anglian Air Ambulance through ticket sales.

Generating economic benefits through a local supply chain is a key priority for LLA. In 2021, 35 percent of the total supply chain was with suppliers within a 20-mile radius of an airport.

Terry Gittins, Head of Procurement at London Luton Airport, commented: “London Luton Airport has always played an important role in helping local economy and we are committed to expanding our relationships with local suppliers wherever possible. How to be more stablelocal procurement brings the benefits of local skills and knowledge to the airport, as well as exciting employment opportunities for local businesses and people.

“Hundreds of businesses in our local communities are already working together LLA, either directly on site or through the supply of goods or services. This event was a fantastic opportunity to meet new suppliers and highlight the variety of opportunities available at the airport, whilst raising valuable funds for two wonderful charities.”
