World Dairy Expo breed sales continue to be successful

Offered consignments from Showring and top genomic heifers

MADISON, Wis. — Showring lots and top genomic heifers are again being offered at the 2022 World Dairy Show. Buyers from around the world competed for the many world-class cattle and embryos sold during the 55^thousand the event. Below are the highlights of the four breed sales that took place last month at WDE.

Top Global Knitwear Sale: Tuesday, October 4th

The Top of the World Jersey Sale took place in Tanbark on Tuesday, October 4. Leading the sale was JX Pine-Tree Stoney 2770 {4}-P-ET consigned by Pine-Tree Dairy of Marshallville, OH and was purchased by Semex and Vierra Dairy, Guelph, Ontario, Canada for $18,500. The second highest sale of the night was IVF rights to Pine-Tree 2271 Feder 2718-PP-ET, also consigned by Pine-Tree Dairy of Marshallville, Ohio. Four J Farms of Tulare, California bought it for $4,000. The 16 lots averaged $3,480 for a total sale of $55,700.

Ayrshire World Sale: Tuesday 4th October

The Ayrshire World Sale was also held on Tuesday 4th October and was topped by five March 2023 Margot Precious calves sired by Libby Lochinvar. This lot was consigned by Kurt Wolf and Mike Meyer of Epworth, Iowa and purchased by Luck-E Holsteins of Hampshire, Illinois for $11,000. The sale’s 14 lots fetched $67,475 for an average sale of $4,820.

World Premiere Brown Sale in Switzerland: Wednesday, October 5th

The world premiere Brown Swiss Sale filled the Sale Pavilion on Wednesday, October 5 after the conclusion of the International Brown Swiss Show and concluded the Word Brown Swiss conference. Consigned by Dennis Mashek – Hilltop Acres, Calmar, Iowa Hilltop Acres Lot J Promise-ETV sold for $28,500 to STgenetics of Navasota, Texas. The second largest lot, La Rainbow Sweet Cheerful-ETV, consigned by Brian Lammers of Botkins, OH, was purchased by Pine-Tree Dairy, Marshallville, OH for $20,500. A total of 33 lots were sold for a total of $280,650 and an average of $7,995 per lot. Buyers were representatives of 9 US states and Canada.

World Classic ’22 Sale: Thursday, October 6th

The World Classic capped a successful week of sales for the breed with an average of $39,373 for 53 lots, for a total of $2,086,750. Top of the sale at $170,000 was JX FB Verstappen {6}-ET, a Jersey heifer purchased by Vierra Dairy , Hillmore, CA, and sent by FB Genetics, Dumas, TX. The second highest selling lot, FB World Classic, was also consigned by FB Genetics, Dumas, TX and was purchased by STgenetics, Navasota, TX for $105,000. The buyers represented 10 US states and two Canadian provinces.
