Trade mission highlights Nebraska ag, promotes beef trade
A Nebraska cattle producer says the governor’s trade mission to the United Kingdom and Ireland is a great way to showcase Nebraska agricultural products.
Jaclyn Wilson, from Lakeside, says she is optimistic the trip will help boost exports of products such as beef to the UK and Ireland. “What we offer and the opportunities we have as a state, when you have such a huge agricultural state, you’re really able to use that as a selling point,” she says.
Wilson also serves on the International Trade Committee for the National Beef Cattle Association. She tells Brownfield that this visit was an opportunity to continue sharing science-based business intelligence. “Their biggest concerns are sustainability and animal welfare and the ethics behind the production cycle,” she says. “So we’re going to have to keep working hard to show what farmers and ranchers are doing to help the environment.”
Governor Ricketts says the United Kingdom and Ireland are key trading partners for Nebraska, and this trade mission is primarily focused on the insurance industry and growing Nebraska agriculture.
