The IBA aviation industry barometer shows a strong market recovery

The IBA, an aviation industry consultant, has published its latest aviation industry barometer for April 2022.

The IBA’s intelligence platform, IBA Insight, shows that global passenger flight recovery grew by 2% in April 2022, with bandwidth of 74% compared to the pre-pandemic level.

The IBA aviation industry barometer for April 2022 also shows that Europe demonstrated a strong recovery of power in April with flights at 79% of pre-pandemic levels. Latin / North America and Africa continue to lead in global recovery with capacity for all regions at more than 85% before the pandemic.

Capacity in the Asia-Pacific region continues to decline compared to last year – tight restrictions and blockades in major Chinese cities are hampering travel, and this trend is likely to continue in the near future.

In April 2022, 82 commercial aircraft were delivered, which is -20% per month compared to March 2022 and an increase of 19% compared to April 2021 compared to the same period last year.

Deliveries in the narrow-body category were led by the A320neo family, while wide-body deliveries were dominated by the A350 family..
