New York-based TelevisaUnivision plans to launch the Spanish-language streaming service in the US, Mexico and Latin America on July 21 for $6.99 and $119MX per month after a free seven-day trial.

ViX+ claims to be the first large-scale global streaming service built specifically for the Spanish-speaking world, giving subscribers access to more than 10,000 hours of ad-free entertainment in its first year and up to 7,000 hours of live sports.

Consumers in the US, Mexico and most Spanish-speaking Latin American countries will have access to more than 70 ViX+ Original series and movies in the first year.

Original series available at launch include María Félix, Doña, Man Diablo, and My Night El Cartel, executive produced by Selena Gomez. ViX+ subscribers will also be able to watch world premieres of movies Mireyes vs. Godinez 2, El Retiro and Enfermo Amor.

“ViX+ will bring premium storytelling that raises the bar for Spanish-language content,” Pierluigi Gazzala, TelevisaUnivision’s chief transformation officer, said in a statement.

Indeed, ViX and ViX+ create the world’s largest Spanish-language streaming service with more than 50,000 hours of content targeting nearly 600 million Spanish speakers worldwide.

“Hispanic viewers will finally have a subscription streaming service with content that accurately reflects our culture,” Gazzola said.

TelevisaUnivision’s portfolio includes content developed by Spanish-language creators and storytellers such as Salma Hayek Pino, Eugenio Derbes, María Dueñas, Selena Gomez, Mario Vargas Llosa, Santiago Limón, Leonardo Padrón and Marc Cistare.
