SIAEC conducts successful engine tests using SAF

SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC) has successfully tested the engine using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

Tests conducted on a Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engine using 38 percent blended SAF yielded 32 percent less carbon emissions than conventional fossil fuels, according to SIAEC.

SIAEC Chief Executive Officer Ng Chin Hwi said: “As SIAEC’s engine maintenance business grows, we recognize the importance of mitigating potential environmental impacts.

“Successful tests using mixed SAF at our engine test center demonstrate the ability and willingness of SIAEC to support the aviation industry in achieving its zero-carbon target.”

Dominic Horwood, Director of Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace, added: “The decarbonization of complex, critical aviation systems requires deep collaboration between players in the sector, and Rolls-Royce is pleased to support the SAF SIAEC and SAESL tests.

“Successful tests of mixed SAF on our Trent 900 engine by SIAEC are an important milestone in accelerating the introduction of SAF in MRO services in the Asia-Pacific region, enabling our partners and customers to move to low-carbon aviation.”
