SIA Engineering opens a new engine maintenance facility

SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) has opened a new aircraft engine maintenance facility (AES) in Singapore to provide services to Safran Aircraft Engines (SAE).

The $ 9 million facility will provide services for rapid engine rotation and modification of CFM LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines.

The production floor of the site is approximately 20,935 square feet and is equipped with the latest QT engine processes and state-of-the-art equipment and technology, including a remote-controlled vehicle to transport the engines.

The facility can perform at least 60 QT per year, as well as on-site support and baroscope inspection services.

SIAEC Chief Executive Officer Ng Chin Hwi said: “With this new facility, SIAEC will be one of the first engine maintenance shops in the region to provide improved support for engine maintenance services for the next-generation CFM LEAP-1A and -1B aircraft. .

“Although AES is currently dedicated to servicing SAE, we hope to expand our services to a wider market in the future as the resumption of global air travel leads to increased demand for fast cornering service and short engine speeds, especially on narrow-body aircraft.

“The opening of AES reflects the continuous growth of the MRO engine capabilities of our engine maintenance unit. We continue to work and collaborate with our OEM partners, focusing on creating value and providing improved services to our OEM partners and airline customers. ”
