Paramount provides customers who launch Mwari

Paramount has secured the sale of nine of its Mwari aircraft to several air forces. (Paramount Group)

South Africa’s Paramount Aerospace Industries secured customers for the launch of its Mwari light attack and surveillance aircraft, announcing on 21 September that nine of the two-seat single-engine turboprops had been sold to “multiple air forces”.

Announcing the sales at the Africa Aerospace and Defense (AAD) 2022 defense exhibition near Pretoria, the Paramount Group subsidiary said deliveries to one undisclosed customer were underway.

Known as the Advanced High-Performance Reconnaissance Light Attack Aircraft (AHRLAC) during development and as the Bronco II for the US market, the Mwari is equipped with a nose-mounted electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) device. sensor turret, as well as a modular Interchangeable Mission Systems Bay (IMSB) that can accommodate a variety of plug-and-play payloads, while its stepped tandem cockpits are equipped with “glass” multifunction display units as well as a manual throttle – and-stick (HOTAS) controls. The aircraft’s armament includes a variety of “blunt” and high-precision munitions located on six underwing mounts.
