Netflix’s ‘Day Shift’, ‘The Sandman’ Top Weekly Whip Streaming Charts – Media Play News

Netflix’s “The Sandman” topped Whip Media’s chart for streaming originals and services Day shift topped the streaming movie chart among US consumers for the week ending August 14.

Day shift, a comedy starring Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco and Snoop Dogg, is about a pool cleaner who works the day shift to kill vampires. The broadcast began on August 12.

“The Sandman,” which began airing Aug. 5, is based on Neil Gaiman’s DC comic of the same name. The series follows the story of Morpheus/Dream, who escapes after decades of imprisonment by a deadly wizard and sets out to recover his lost equipment.

At No. 2 on the streaming originals chart was Netflix’s Locke & Key, which premiered its third season on August 10. The series follows siblings who, after their father is murdered, move with their mother to his ancestral estate, where they discover magical keys that unlock powers.

New Disney+ Marvel series I Groot debuted at No. 3 on the streaming originals chart, which began airing on August 10. A series of short cartoons tells the story of the character Baby Groot from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hulu dropped from No. 1 to No. 2 on the streaming movie chart Extraction. The film follows a predatory alien (from the long-running franchise) wreaking havoc on the Comanche nation 300 years ago. It began streaming on August 5 on Hulu.

Staying at No. 3 on the streaming movie chart, Sony Pictures scored a box office hit Unknown, which began streaming on Netflix on Aug. 5 under a previous deal between the studio and the streamer. The action-adventure tells the story of street thief Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), who is recruited by experienced treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan (March Wahlberg) to recover the riches lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago.
