National Album Day 2022: The Complete List of Reissues This National Album Day

National Album Day 2022 has confirmed a full slate of releases and reissues for this year, with a number of albums receiving either special vinyl pressings or extended editions due out on October 14th.

In a joint statement Jeff Taylorexecutive director of St BPIand Kim Baileychief executive officer ERA (the organization behind National Album Day), they explained that “Artists love to tell their stories through album art, and fans love to listen.”

“But in a world where individual songs are more streamed, we take the appeal of the album format for granted.”

National Album Day is a celebration of the continued vitality and cultural relevance of the long player, particularly for the next generation of fans, and we invite everyone who loves the format to join in and enjoy this year’s National Album Day.”

Jamiroquai – Emergency on planet Earth

Jamiroquai’s acclaimed debut album Emergency On Planet Earth gets a double 12″ reissue

Jamirakwai debut album 1993 An emergency on planet Earthwill be reissued on double transparent vinyl – a tribute to the foundation that became the acid jazz sound for which the band became famous.

In a retrospective review, a All musicthey noted the album’s conscious messages throughout the album:

“Frontman Jay Kay presents himself with an environmental manifesto up his sleeve, his lyrics infused with an idealistic revolution to save the planet.”

“But that revolution would happen on the dance floor if the band’s impressive rhythm section had anything to say about it.”

Chasing and status is more than a lot

Prior to its National Album Day listing, Chase and Status’ debut album had never been released on vinyl

In a modern review of the former music site Drowned in the Soundthey cited that More Than Alot “doesn’t just contain a bunch of blasting D’n’B hits you can bounce to: it’s far more adventurous in scope and vision” in their 9/10 review.

“A mostly dynamic album that really understands how people listen to music in 2008; (we) highly recommend this one.”

Us – Illmatic

Nas’ seminal work Illmatic will receive a limited release on red clear 12-inch vinyl

Considered one of the most important albums of all time, its influence is felt both in rap music and in hip-hop culture in general. Us Illmatic has long been noted as an iconic piece East Coast Hip Hop.

Looking back on the album’s 20th anniversary, Q magazine stated that “at 10 tracks, Illmatic is satisfyingly lean and cohesive – which is surprising for a hip-hop album with five producers.”

Illmatic will be reissued on clear marble red 12″ vinyl and is available for pre-order via hmv.

The Clash – Clash

Along with the Sex Pistols, The Clash were considered one of the pioneers of the 70s punk movement

Clash’s self-titled effort will be released on clear pink 12″ vinyl and is available for pre-order via hmv.
