Modern Aviation acquires Des Moines FBO

Modern Aviation has completed the acquisition of the assets and operations of Elliott Aviation FBO at Des Moines International Airport in Iowa, bringing Modern’s FBO network to 13 locations in the United States and its territories. Elliott will continue to maintain, repair and overhaul the airfield.

The Des Moines FBO, which is Modern’s first location in the Midwest, operates on a 17-acre lease and includes an 8,700 sq. ft. passenger terminal. Additionally, there is a 145,000 square foot heated hangar and 20,000 square feet of office space.

“We are very excited about our new company in Des Moines,” said Modern Aviation CEO Mark Carmen. “Elliott Aviation has a long history of providing excellent service to its customers through its experienced and long-serving employees, all of whom have joined Modern.”

Eliminating the FBO will allow the company to “focus our efforts and investments on growing our regional maintenance and maintenance business across our geographic presence,” Elliott Aviation President Greg Sarr said.
