Malaysian Aviation Group will lease 25 Boeing 737-8s from Air Lease Corporation

The Los Angeles-based Air Lease Corporation (ALC) has announced the deployment of 25 Boeing 737-8 aircraft to the Malaysian Aviation Group (MAG), the parent company of Malaysia Airlines. Deliveries are set to begin in early 2023 and continue until 2026, with aircraft coming from Boeing’s ALC order book.

Izham Ismail, CEO of MAG Group, said: “Following a detailed bidding process in the last quarter, we are pleased to appoint ALC aircraft lessors for our Boeing 737-8 fleet. This exercise is related to the restructured terms of our existing book of orders from Boeing. We are happy to have an ALC partner who is committed to being part of our future efforts outlined in our long-term business plan 2.0 (“LTBP2.0”). The 737-8 is the key to LTBP2.0 with its superior product offerings and better fleet performance, which includes, among other things, improved fuel efficiency of up to 15%. This is in line with our path to sustainability, and allows MAB to implement our future networking strategies with more flexibility and agility. ”

ALC is primarily engaged in purchasing commercial aircraft and leasing them to its airline customers around the world through individual aircraft leasing and financing solutions.
