Documentary film Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, Journey, Song will be released digitally, on Blu-ray and DVD on October 11 by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
The definitive study of singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen through the lens of his world-famous anthem “Hallelujah,” the feature-length documentary weaves together three strands of work: the songwriter and his times; the song’s dramatic journey from record label rejection to chart-topping hit; and testimonials from leading recording artists for whom “Hallelujah” has become a personal touchstone. Approved for production by Cohen shortly before his 80th birthday in 2014, the film has access to a wealth of never-before-seen archive material from the Cohen Trust, including Cohen’s personal notebooks, diaries and photographs; footage of the performance; and extremely rare audio recordings and interviews.
