John Holland-Kaye is stepping down as chief executive of Heathrow Airport

John Holland-Kay has told Heathrow Airport’s board that he intends to step down as chief executive in 2023 after nine years at the airport’s helm.

During his exceptional leadership of Holland Quay, he built a strong management team, developed a customer-focused culture, improved cost efficiencies and positioned Heathrow at the forefront of decarbonising global aviation. The airport’s transformation during his time as CEO has been recognized as Heathrow has won a number of significant awards, including: Top 30 Employers by the Sunday Times; one of the 10 best airports in the world (as voted by passengers); and the Edie Sustainable Business of the Year Award.

Three of the most significant achievements of his tenure are the development of Heathrow’s expansion plan, which received overwhelming parliamentary approval, the successful delivery of business through the COVID-19 crisis and the recovery of demand, and his leadership in firmly setting aviation on a course to net-zero by 2050 .
