JFD was awarded contract for the operation of the DSAR-5 deep search and rescue vehicle for the Republic of the Navy of the Republic of Korea (RoKN).
Contracted with South Korean firms AMC and DSY, the company will support the Navy during the DSAR-5 middle-aged conversion program.
JFD is responsible for the delivery of various electrical and mechanical parts for the car.
Support services will help maintain DSAR operational capabilities in the future.
The submarine’s rescue vehicle will undergo a major inspection and overhaul later this year.
JFD Director of Strategy, Sales and Marketing Alistair Wilson said: “We are excited to continue to offer RoKN support in operation, ensuring that our submarine rescue systems are maintained at the highest level of safety.
JFD Deep Search and Rescue Rescue (DSAR) rescue vehicles are designed and built with over 30 years of operational rescue experience on submarines. We are proud to be able to offer our customers spare parts, systems and services such as training, as well as our innovative solutions for evacuation and rescue from submarines. ”
DSAR-5 entered service with RKN in 2008.
The company is also contracting to supply a new third-generation deep search and rescue vehicle (DSRV) to RoKN.
Designed to increase battery capacity and endurance, the DSRV requires less time to recharge and can be deployed quickly in an emergency.
This year will begin running tests of the Korean rescue ship ASR-II.
