How much are holiday movies from Love Actually to Elf?

With Christmas just around the corner, our favorite holiday movies will be gracing our TVs to bring everyone into the holiday spirit, and we’ll once again be dreaming of living in the perfect home of our favorite characters. Well, after a recent study from Hammonds Furniture they may not seem so perfect.

The study looked at the current value of properties featured in a number of popular Christmas films, including Home Alone, Love Actually, Elf and The Holiday. The list also includes Susan’s Dream House from the 1994 iteration of Miracle on 34th Street, and let’s just say Santa did a good job of giving her a home for Christmas. Today, the property is valued at £2,279,000 and is one of the smaller gainers among the famous films on the list, up 38% since its 1994 release.

Unsurprisingly, the study found that since its premiere in 2006, the California mansion owned by Cameron Diaz’s fictional character, Amanda, has been the most expensive home on the list. The house in which Kate Winslet’s character can live out our dream, The Holiday, was originally built by the famous architect Wallace Neh. If you’re looking to buy a sprawling seven-bedroom mansion, you’ll need to splash out a whopping £9,048,4000 in 2022 to do so.

The study looked at eight of the most iconic homes and found that most of the homes from our favorite holiday movies are sure to set you back a pretty penny. Five of the eight properties analyzed in the study are now valued at more than $2 million.

The iconic Illinois home where Macaulay Culkin’s mischievous character Kevin leaves in the Christmas classic Home Alone is now going for over two million dollars ($2,246,000) to potential buyers. The Lincoln Avenue home last sold in 2012 for $1.585 million, a 162% increase since 1990, when it sold for around £763,000 ($875,000).

So how much does it cost you to live like Natalie in Love Actually or Walter Hobbs in Elf? Here’s a complete list of the most iconic Christmas movies, ranked by price.
