Holstein bulls are cataloged for Kilrea

Auctioneer Mark Stewart confirmed that the annual Holstein NI Show and Sale, sponsored by United Feeds, attracted eight bulls from the Keely, Inch and Prehen herds.

The bulls on offer have a GPLI value of up to £839 and range in age from July 2021 to December 2021. They are bred from proven cow families for power, productivity, fertility and longevity.

The catalog includes sons of leading AI sires and big bulls such as Lakemead Jingle, SSI PR Renegade, Annadale Haysmuir, Willsbro Abbott, Peak Altaplinko, Winstar Mendel P and Prehen Ringrose.

Mark Stewart said: “There is something for everyone. The catalog features purebred Holstein bulls, as well as bulls that boast a blend of quality Friesian and Holstein genetics.

One of the headliners is (Lot 4) Prehen Elton GPLI at £839 – one of the highest genomic age PLI service bulls offered for sale in the UK. His dam, Peak Elysée, is an elite donor dam at Peak Alta Genetics.

The pre-sale show will start at 11.00am and will be judged by David McNagher of the renowned Mullaugher Herd based in Agadowi.

The sale will begin at noon (approximately), immediately following the fair’s weekly dairy auction.
