High-value dairy exports support near-record sales
The US Dairy Export Council says March exports have almost matched the previous year’s record for the month.
The total value of exports in March increased by 25% compared to 2021, to 860 million dollars, while the volume decreased by one percent.
Cheese exports increased by 13%, cheddar increased by almost 90% as global demand for cheese in the US increased.
Export volumes remained low, according to the council, as milk supply, strong domestic demand, high prices and supply chain logistics limit movement. The United States continues to see increased shipments of higher value products, such as cheese, butter, and protein concentrates.
