Former model-agent tied to Epstein found dead in Paris prison

Former French modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel, who had close ties to the late Jeffrey Epstein, has been found dead in a Paris prison as a result of an apparent suicide on rape charges.

Earlier on Saturday, France Presse reported that Brunel was found hanged Friday night in his cell at La Sante prison. The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed his death Bloomberg News, and said police have launched an investigation for the reason. Brunel’s lawyers have revealed that he committed suicide.

“His decision was not due to guilt, but a deep sense of injustice,” said lawyers Christoph Ingrein, Matthias Chichpartish and Mariana Abgral. “Jean-Luc Brunel never stopped asserting his innocence. He has multiplied his efforts to prove it. “

The 75-year-old Brunel, a longtime ally of Epstein and owner of a high-end modeling agency, was charged with rape and sexual harassment in December 2020. Charges of rape concern dealing with minors over the age of 15.

Brunel has been targeted by French authorities as part of an investigation into those who may have helped Epstein lure underage girls into the orbit of the late financier. It is documented that the relationship between Brunel and Epstein began at least in 2002, when in flight logs the Frenchman was on a private plane of a financier flying from Florida to the Bahamas.

Epstein committed suicide in prison in 2019, awaiting trial on charges of sexual trafficking.
