Mumbai, September 23, 2022: (PTI) Flights at the Mumbai airport will be suspended for six hours on October 18 due to maintenance work on the runway, which is likely to hit passengers badly, a private airport operator said on Thursday. Mumbai Airport has two intersecting runways, the main runway 9/27 and the auxiliary runway 14/32, which handle around 800 flights per day, making it the second busiest airport after Indira International Airport Gandhi in Delhi. According to reports published in economictimes.indiatimes.com

Operator Adani Group said it had “scheduled closure of the runway on October 18 from 11am to 5pm for repairs and maintenance on both runways” as part of its annual post-monsoon preventive maintenance exercise.

During the closure period, the operator of the facility will carry out major works such as onboard lights for runway 14/32, AGL (aeronautical ground lights) upgrades, among others, it said.

CSMIA (Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport) said that in collaboration with key stakeholders, it has already rescheduled flights for the runway closure period to ensure smooth completion of the maintenance work.
