Estimates for Illinois corn and soybeans fell slightly
USDA data shows that 3 percent of Illinois corn was mature at the end of August.
As of Sunday, 85% of the crop is in the dough stage, with 46% spoiled. Illinois corn is rated 69 percent good to excellent, down one percentage point from last week and this time last year.
Eighty-six percent of soybeans are setting pods with 66% of the crop in good to excellent condition. This is down two points from the previous week and down 5 points from this week in 2021.
The third alfalfa hay cut is 66% complete and pasture conditions are down 9 percentage points to just 40% good to excellent.
