EPA withdraws interim decision on glyphosate, registration expected in 2026

The American Farm Bureau Federation says the EPA’s withdrawal of its provisional registration for glyphosate is a win for farmers.

Travis Cushman, assistant general counsel for litigation and public policy at AFBF, says Friday’s Brownfield decision provides clarity and certainty for the ingredient used in Roundup. “Fortunately, there is no impact. Glyphosate is still registered and we will just uphold the previous registration.”

In June, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals asked the agency to review the record by Oct. 1 after environmental groups filed a lawsuit against the EPA.

Cushman says it’s likely the agency didn’t have enough time to review the filing by the deadline.

The EPA says it will complete its review of the registration in 2026.
