Embraer and GMV in Portugal have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the development of systems and integration of defense products and services, mainly related to the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft program. The MoU also provides for potential joint research, technology development and innovation process with the intention of expanding and increasing long-term business relationships between the companies at the stages of concept, design, development, production and support.
New business, navigation systems development and integration, integrated modular avionics (IMA) development and software development are also being discussed between the two companies, who intend to share and disclose certain information regarding their expertise, capabilities, products, systems and services. In a specific area of IMA-focused research and development, the relationship spans more than 15 years, including projects within the European Union’s research framework.
Embraer has a long-term strategic commitment to Portugal in the development of its aerospace and defense ecosystem. It remains the country where the company continues its most significant investment in industrial capacity outside of Brazil.
