Elbit Systems has introduced a new version of the small tactical unmanned aerial vehicle Skylark 3 (STUAS), which operates from a new hybrid propulsion system.
The small tactical unmanned aerial vehicle Skylark 3 Hybrid (STUAV), first shown at the Singapore Airshow 2022, which takes place from 15 to 18 February at the Changi Exhibition Center, combines an electric motor with a battery and an internal combustion engine, which increases mission efficiency. system efficiency without compromising size or weight, the company said.
“The Skylark 3 Hybrid uses an internal combustion engine to fly quickly to the area of interest (AOI) and switches to an electric motor while working on AOI,” Elbit said. The use of two engines provides redundancy of engines, which increases safety and reliability of flights, while one engine supports the other, he added.
