Citroen Ami: UK price and specs confirmed as order books open

“An evolutionary solution to urban mobility” – or electric ATV for you and me – available exclusively through the online Citroen Ami Showroom. Prices start from £7,695 or just £19.99 on a PCP finance package.

With just two seats, a range of 46 miles and a top speed of 28mph, the 2.4m long Ami is specially designed for urban use, with Citroen aiming to make it a safer and more practical alternative to scooters and mopeds.

Buyers can choose from three passenger versions – My Ami Color (available with grey, orange or white highlights), My Ami Pop, My Ami Tonic – plus the single-seater My Ami Cargo, designed for business deliveries.

Basic Ami is also available exclusively on a PCP finance deal from £19.99 per month for two years.

All passenger versions of the Ami are equipped with a digital speedometer, LED front and rear lights, a panoramic glass sunroof and a USB charging port. Colour, Pop and Tonic models feature dashboard storage pockets, a smartphone holder and connectivity, as well as interior and exterior styling packages. Cars in the UK will be left-hand drive and have hinged doors at opposite ends of the car.

Ami Cargo has 400 liters of cargo space and a load capacity of 140 kg. Instead of a passenger seat, it will get a modular 250-liter box with a lid with an adjustable floor height and a “mobile office” top surface.

To mark the launch of UK sales, Citroen has partnered with charging provider ubitricity to offer the first 2,000 UK customers three months of free charging on ubitricity’s network of more than 5,400 kerbside charging points. Ami’s 5.5kWh battery takes about three hours to fully charge.

British boss Citroen also hinted that the French firm could bring its surprise hit Ami Buggy to the UK after selling all 50 of the first French cars in just 18 minutes.

Citroen UK managing director Jurig Drewes told the PA news agency: “I would say [there is an urge to bring Ami Buggy to the UK] in small amounts.

“I always have a smile on my face when I drive the Ami and the Ami Buggy goes to that extra level that if we could bring it to the UK it would definitely be in my garage.”

He added: “It’s a debate now because 50 were sold in less than 18 minutes which is just crazy and I think there’s scope for something in the UK but it’s going to be a battle.”

The buggy has khaki paint and 14-inch gold wheels, and a removable soft top reminiscent of the classic Citroen 2CV.

The doors were also removed and replaced with hinged metal tubes, and all 50 cars received a special commemorative plaque on the dashboard.
