CDB Aviation orders twelve more conversions from EFW, promoting its A330 P2F strategy

CDB Aviation has committed to conduct an additional twelve conversions with Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW), expanding its A330 P2F fleet to fourteen aircraft. Moreover, the lessor is preparing to launch in China cargo ships type A330-300 P2F in 2022 with lease commitments from Sichuan Airlines and Jiangxi Cargo Airlines.

“We have strategically placed our platform as a leader in the A330 P2F program among lessors,” commented Patrick Hannigan, CEO of CDB Aviation, adding that the A330 P2F was the lessor’s first entry into the air cargo space. “We are very pleased with the progress and pace of this program to date and look forward to further expanding our cargo fleet in collaboration with our partners from Airbus, ST Engineering and EFW.”

CDB Aviation’s first two A330 P2Fs have now been refitted at the EFW plant in Dresden, Germany, and will be re-delivered to its start-up operator, Mexican MasAir, in early 2022.

CDB Aviation is expanding its global transformation footprint by becoming the first customer for A330 P2F conversions to be conducted at ST Engineering facilities in Shanghai, China and VT MAE in Mobile, Alabama, USA. These conversion sites have been added to the existing A330 P2F EFW conversion facilities in Dresden, Germany, and ST Engineering in Singapore. By mid-2022, the lessor plans to re-equip aircraft simultaneously in three places – in Dresden, Shanghai and Mobile.
