Cargo airline Silk Way West orders 16 GE9X and GE90 engines

Silk Way West Airlines has ordered a total of 16 GE9X and GE90 engines to power its Boeing 777 fleet.

Cargo airline recently announced the acquisition of Boeing 777-8 Freighters with GE9X engines and Boeing 777 Freighters with GE90 engines to upgrade its freighter fleet. The engine order includes five GE9X engines and 11 GE90 engines.

GE AerospacePresident of Commercial Programs Kathy McKenzie commented, “The GE9X engine offers a combination of power and fuel efficiency that is unmatched in its class. We are proud to continue to build our relationship with Silk Way West as they continue to modernize their fleet for cargo operations.”

IHI Corporation, Safran Aircraft Engines, Safran Aero Boosters and MTU Aero Engines are participants in the GE9X engine program.
