Bulgaria will receive MiG-29 engines from Poland

Poland is to decommission one of its MiG-29 fighter jets to transfer two engines to Bulgaria as part of a wider deal aimed at preserving the latter’s fleet until the end of 2023. (Janes/Patrick Allen)
Bulgaria will receive MiG-29 “Fulcrum” engines from Poland to ensure the flight operation of Warsaw Pact aircraft until the end of 2023.
Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said on October 28 that the Polish Air Force plans to decommission one of its MiG-29s in order to hand over two Klimau RD-33 turboprops to the Bulgarian Air Force. Negotiations are underway to repair six more Bulgarian engines in Poland, he added.
