Biden appoints Francis Collins and Alondra Nelson heads of White House science

The White House named acting heads of the Office of Science and Technology Policy and the role of the president’s science adviser.

The current Deputy Director of OSTP Alondra Nelson will serve as Director of this office. Former Director of the National Institutes of Health Francis Collins will become Acting Scientific Adviser and Acting Co-Chair of the President’s Advisory Board on Science and Technology (PCAST). Both Nelson and Collins will serve, “until permanent leadership is appointed and confirmed,” This is stated in a statement by the White House.
