Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion Carla Qualtrow said that everyone deserves decent, safe and secure work.
“With these changes, our government is strengthening protections for temporary foreign workers,” she said. “These people come to Canada, work for Canadian businesses and help advance the Canadian economy. We have a responsibility to ensure that they are protected and respected.”
Qualtreau said the new rules will provide greater transparency and clarity to the terms and conditions of the TFW Program and lead to better worker protections and increased compliance with the program.
Canada’s agriculture minister is on the second day of a two-day trade mission in Manila, Philippines.
Marie-Claude Bibeau meets with the Philippine Undersecretary of Agriculture, members of the Farm Advisory Council, representatives of meat processors and meat importers. She will also meet with flour and compound fodder production teams.
Yesterday, she met with senior officials from Tim Hortons Philippines to discuss the Canadian firm’s future plans in Asia.
She also visited a milling company that uses Canadian wheat.
