CURTIS, NEBRACIA – An open house with campus tours for prospective college students will be held on Tuesday, March 1 in Curtis at the College of Technical Agriculture of Nebraska.

Junior and senior students are invited to visit and learn about life on campus, academics, student clubs, various competing tourism teams, and meet with Aga student ambassadors who lead field trips.

“Bring your parents or school friends with you for this college visit,” said Gail Steenman, a recruiter. “We have a small campus that provides great opportunities to interact with faculty and other students.”

The morning session includes small group tours of the living rooms and campuses.

Lunch at the Student Union allows students to visit interest tables for clubs such as rodeos, shooting, refereeing, livestock dogs and a team of horses on the ranch.

In the afternoon, students will take part in interactive classes on animal husbandry, agronomy, agricultural business, animal husbandry mechanics and veterinary technology.

Parents will learn about financial aid and submit a free application for federal student aid (FAFSA), which must be submitted by April 1. Andrew Hansecker of Education Quest leads the session.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Nebraska Agricultural Industry Education Center.

“Alumni and their families often share stories about how the NCTA has made a big difference in their lives,” Steenman said. “We like to say: Discover NCTA: where your passion becomes a career.”

Pre-registration is required by Thursday (February 24th) to collect student packages and set time for academic counseling, as well as provide food counts. See register. Another Discovery Day will be Monday, April 11th.
